Swagbucks is essentially an on-line portal in which you can win digital dollars called Swagbucks for using their Google powered search engine, shopping at some of your favorite stores through their website, redeeming Swag "codes" and more! You build up Swagbucks and can redeem them for things like gift cards, electronics, etc.

I've really enjoyed Swagbucks for the several months I've been using it and highly recommend it for a fun way to earn cool prizes. I've already earned enough Swagbucks for a $50 Southwest Airlines gift card and $155 worth of Amazon gift cards and it's been easy. Below are some tips for making the most of your Swagbucking experience.

1. Join! If you haven't joined Swagbucks yet, you're missing out. You automatically get 3 free Swagbucks just for signing up! You can sign up through visiting this link: http://swagbucks.com/refer/bethanybro

2. Make Swagbucks Your Home Page. Every time you open up your internet browser, you'll be reminded of Swagbucks and have it right there in front of you to do a search on the internet.

3. Install the Swagbucks Toolbar, Plugin or Widget. By installing these, you make it that much easier to use Swagbucks for searches.

4. Search Everything. Instead of clicking on my favorites, I've taken to using the Swagbucks search engine to access the websites I visit most frequently. It takes very little extra time and makes you do more searches, which increases your chances of winning Swagbucks! Because of this, it's common for me to win at least two Swagbucks a day.

5. Invite Your Friends and Family. Once you've discovered how cool Swagbucks is, you'll want to tell everyone you know because it's pretty cool! The plus side is that if someone joins because of you and signs up through your own personal referral link, you win Swagbucks when they win Swagbucks!

6. Become a fan of Swagbucks on Facebook or following them on Twitter. Most days, Swagbucks will update their status with a Swag Hunt - a clue on how to find a Swag Code usually hidden within the Swagbucks website. Once you find the code, you can enter it by visiting your account page.

7. Shop Through Swagbucks. Before you buy something on-line, see if the store you are purchasing from participates with Swagbucks. You earn Swagbucks based on the dollar amount you spend. I don't use this method, but it's available.

8. Trade-In Old Electronics. If you have an old cell phone, MP3 player or gaming console laying around that you don't use anymore, you can actually mail it in and get Swagbucks!

9. Share When You Win. Swagbucks has added a nifty feature that allows you to notify the people you know through social networks of when you win. Just click on the box next to the picture of a Swagbuck when you win. This helps remind your friends to keep using Swagbucks and also shows that you can win quite frequently. However, since you can win several times a day, use this feature sparingly. People don't like spammers. ;-)

10. Submit Polls and Photographic Evidence of Prizes. Swagbucks has fun polls you can vote in. If you submit a poll idea that they use, you get rewarded for it. And if you send in a picture of yourself with a prize that you've earned through Swagbucks, you get rewarded for that too!

Of all these tips, I use 1-6 (and 9 for Bethany) and it's worked really well for me! I'm only 1 SB away from another $5 Amazon gift card!

Enjoy!

+ We just did devotions together for the first time in ages. It helps that I finally found my Quiet Time that went missing in September. It was under the couch... where Isaac and I had both checked more than once. Isaac prayed for our child who may already be out there somewhere and of course I started crying. There is nothing guaranteed to make me cry other than adoption. I wasn't this bad till we went to the orphanage in El Salvador. It's just so REAL now. I really, really understand why God placed it in our hearts to do this, and I feel much less defective for not having always daydreamed about being pregnant and having kids that look like me.

+ We finally took our Christmas stuff down today. The dining room looks so big without the tree in there! It's kinda sad to have it gone for another 11 months.

+ 4 more Swagbucks and I can get $25 in Amazon gift certificates! And Isaac's account has enough for $5 for Amazon or Starbucks. I'm planning a trip to Knoxville to get together with some friends (woo-hoo!), which I will need airfare for, so I may hold onto mine and keep saving for the $50 Southwest gift card. It's hard though. There are lots of things I could buy from Amazon with $25. If you'd like to earn things just for searching as you would with Google, sign up here! Then when you win, I win. And when the friends you refer win, you win!

+ I had a really unhealthy day today. I ate leftover shrimp and fettuccine alfredo for lunch and then thick crust white pizza for dinner. Good thing I went for a 5-mile bike ride yesterday and a 3-mile walk today! I really love walking to work. I don't know why I waited so long to try it.

+ Did I ever post on here that I figured out the savings from my CVSing? My Aug. 30-Dec. 31 CVSing total out of pocket cost was $50.51 and I saved $863.32! I would've spent over $77 on stuff like milk, gum, tissues, etc. anyway, and that's not even counting the makeup, tons of toothpaste, medicine, etc. that I have gotten that we'll use eventually. I've also made $10 of my out of pocket cost back from Ebay auctions and will be getting $27 back from rebates - so it's like I've only spent $13.51. And I have two nice blood glucose meters to sell on Ebay which will probably fetch another $10 each, so I'll come out getting all that stuff and having spent nothing. Freaking awesome.

+ Isaac came to work with me for 5 hours Tuesday night. We are in the process of switching the church's financials from Quicken to Quickbooks. I can already tell that it's far more user friendly, and I hardly know what I'm doing yet! We also began a bit of the year end stuff which has been stressing me out. I think it will actually be okay though, with his help. I'm so grateful for him. I could never have taken the treasurer position without him being an accountant and being kind enough to help me.

+ Seth has declared me the coolest sister ever. Not only did I buy him a case of Cheerwine in NC, but I also gave him a set of headphones for his phone (well, actually I traded for a 2GB micro SD card) and made him some ringtones. So basically? I'm the bomb. Hehe.

+ GO GATORS!!!

Just one more and I'll be able to get a $5 Amazon.com gift card! That didn't take long at all - I just joined a week ago! Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] abideinchrist , [info]mrbubba , [livejournal.com profile] thatloopyqueen , and of course Isaac, for signing up under me and helping me get there already! Although even without my friends I would have 17 points earned on my own (3 for signing up, 14 for doing searches). That's 2 each day. So even on my own I could have a gift card every 3 weeks or so. NICE.

Now I just have to decide if I want to cash out at 45 to get the Amazon card, or hold out to 50 to get a $5 Starbuck's card. I know that technically the Amazon is better because it's more $ for each Swagbuck, but I only ever go to Starbuck's when I have a gift card, and this would buy me 1½ free drinks. Hmm. Or I could save up for the $50 Southwest Airlines GC for 400 SBs, which is worth more per SB than the Amazon. Decisions, decisions.
