+ This afternoon I made a tea of garlic, apple cider vinegar, and water. It was totally disgusting, but it did what people claimed it would: it soothed my extremely sore throat and helped my congestion. If I have another terrible coughing fit today, I might have to choke some more down.

+ Half the time when I watch The Office I think, "Andy is such a dork." The other half, I think, "I am so much like Andy." It's scary. Actually, I think Isaac and I are very Jim-and-Pam-like. They're also very silly and laidback.

+ I keep forgetting to tell about Valentine's Day. We had lunch at McDonald's for tradition's sake and then had a nice dinner at home. Isaac grilled up some mahi mahi fillets that one of his clients had given him from a fish he caught while deep-sea fishing. It was really good! Isaac also got me some roses. They may be cliche, but they are totally my favorite flower, so you'll never hear me complaining!

+ We had a fantastic storm last night. It woke me up long enough to snuggle with mi esposo, and then kept us asleep with its wonderfulness. And now, today, it's sunny and warm, with a breeze. Perfect.

+ I could really go for some sushi. What a bizarre thing to crave while sick.

+ I just now realized who the pilot on last night's Lost was. I kept thinking he was familiar, but couldn't figure out why. I kind of wish that show was ending already just so a lot of questions would be answered. Remember when they kept creepy Ben in a little room and tortured him? Those were the days.

+ I miss my CT family. In May it will have been a year since we went up there, and we likely will not be able to go up till at least this fall, if even then. =o(

I think Lost is supposed to wrap up in two or three more seasons. I am ready for it to be over, too, but I'm still enjoying it! But my friend and I agree that the only characters we whose survival we care about are Penny, Desmond, and the geeky physicist guy. I'm about to start sending creepy letters to the writers of Lost telling them to NOT MESS with Desmond and Penny!

Ooh, I could go for some sushi, too.

Glad you had a good Valentine's Day! :)

Yeah, it is. Apparently the writers have always had a whole plan in their heads about what would happen from the beginning to the end. Those times we think they're smoking stuff, they've actually been planning to smoke stuff since the show's inception. LOL. But yes, I love Desmond & Penny. I still love Jin & Sun, though I'm not big on their darker sides. Also - didn't she have a kid? What happened to the kid?

I decided it was a bad plan with my throat how it is, but I definitely want some sushi one of these days. Mmm...

Why is it cures never taste good?

I forgot you and Isaac do McD's for Valentine's Day. So cute!

I miss loud storms.

we likely will not be able to go up till at least this fall, if even then

Because of Europe? That is sad!

I don't know. I will say that the garlic tea did not taste half as bad as liquid NyQuil. I swear I'd rather drink straight tequila than NyQuil.

My pic o' the day for V-Day is wicked cute, IMO. Hehe.

CT gets some decent storms, don't they?

Yeah. He'll have used up all his vacation time. If I manage to find enough money to go to El Salvador, he still probably can't go because of vacation days. It's worth it, but still sad.

Yeah, I hate NyQuil, too. Then again, it never really helps me, so I don't take it anyway.

I think in the year and a half we've lived here, we've gotten maybe one good storm. So no, not really.

Does Isaac get to take any personal days?

NyQuil and DayQuil both used to work well for me. I don't know if this cold is just super-tough or what, but DayQuil hasn't done a thing for me for this one. NyQuil is at least helping me sleep.

He gets all the bank holidays, but none right now. He gets to save them up for non-tax season use. But Europe will be like 17 work days or so, and he only gets 10 vacation days each year. Next year he'll get double that though because he will have been there 5 years! (Time flies!)

Andy has been highly annoying until after he lost Angela then he has been quite bearable. :P You and Isaac are very Jam-like.

Yeah, he is annoying. Hopefully I'm not like his annoying part. Hehe. But a lot of his dorkiness is similar to my dorkiness.

I've only actually seen one post-Angela episode for him. I got way behind because it's on against Supernatural and I keep forgetting to watch it online. I'm like 5 episodes behind. Sad, huh?

Now you are sick? I'm sorry! I hope it doesn't last long.

Yep. It could be much worse, but I'm still not enjoying it. Heh.

Ewww, that "tea" sounds gross! I think you should've just gotten Isaac to make you some of his garlic toast instead. ;)

From: [identity profile] kimana83.livejournal.com
Oh, it was. It really did work though. I tried it tonight with ACV and honey and without garlic. It tasted like hot cider, but didn't work as well. Figures. Unfortunately, Isaac was at work when I had the coughing fit that was so bad it actually caused me to make tea out of garlic. I couldn't breathe and my throat was completely raw. I was desperate. =o/

Wow...yeah, I'd probably be desperate too! I've never heard of that concoction before--did you Google for cough remedies? Hehe

Date: 2009-02-23 06:38 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] kimana83.livejournal.com
Of course! And there were lots of different sites/success stories for that mixture, or variations on it. I haven't tried the garlic again because thankfully my throat hasn't been so sore. I may give it a go again today though because now my chest is seriously congested. Oy. This is one doozy of a cold.

A better remedy

Oh ick. When I have a sore throat, I drink hot water with a little cider vinegar and some honey. Much tastier. :) I hope you feel better soon!

I did that several times last week, but it never did anything. Alas.

Lapides (sp?) looked so different without his facial hair. I almost didn't recognize him either! I think he looked better before. :)

Yeah - he looked so presentable without the scruff! LOL.

Wow, I can't imagine drinking that tea! I think I would just take day-time cough medicine!

From: [identity profile] kimana83.livejournal.com
You think I tried nasty tea BEFORE trying cold medicine?! No stinking way. I tried the tea because the cold medicine didn't do a thing. I don't know why not, either, because it's always helped me before. This is apparently one bugger of a cold.

I know what you mean about missing your CT family! Me too...and I miss all my CT friends. :) I'm not sure if we will be able to travel up there at all this year, boo hoo. Well, maybe we will make it to FL instead. That would be fun.
Hope you are feeling better, have fun at your photo shoot.
I enjoy haunting your blog even if I hardly comment.
