Recently, I've learned that:
- If you think no one pays attention to you, try walking around outside in a wedding dress that's seen better days, patterned fishnet-esque tights, and pink open-toed heels. You will turn a lot of heads.
- It is extremely difficult to cover freckles with makeup.
- I am very pale. Paler than I ever knew. Paler than the lightest shade of Estee Lauder Maximum Coverage and the lightest shade of Revlon Colorstay.
- Modeling is FUN. Especially crazy, who-wears-this-crap, high fashion modeling. (See the first bullet point.)
- It is worrisome to loan one'sbaby camera to a friend, even a friend that one knows will take excellent care of it.
- One sees very interesting things while walking a 4-mile circuit near where one lives. Last night's walk found a pair of boxers, part of a toy gun, and some very confused signs. Also, I like that people walking the other way say hi to us even though we have never seen them before.
- There are a lot of countries that don't let people adopt unless they're at least 30 years old. Bah to them. We don't want to wait another 2 years before even beginning the process!
- CVS loves me. They sent me a $10 off $50 and a $5 off $30, thereby guaranteeing that I will have an amazing Black Friday there!
- I can deal with cold weather if I'm doing something I love.
- I'm edgy-looking. *snort*
- I can go at least one day without drinking pop/soda, but it's sad.
- My husband is amazing. This I already knew, but I keep noticing it more and more.

Date: 2008-11-26 06:52 pm (UTC)We were planning to start it next Fall, but I've been thinking lately, why wait? We won't be any more ready next Fall. Unfortunately, since many countries make you wait till you're 30, my plans for ethnicities may not be quite what I wanted. That's okay. =o)

Date: 2008-11-26 07:14 pm (UTC)I have one picture already, which will be my pic o' the day from that day, and I will be getting a whole CD of the pics from that day (including the ones in normal clothes) in the mail sometime next week. Then I'll post my favorites in a Facebook album, which I will certainly link to on here. =o)

Date: 2008-11-26 09:34 pm (UTC)I want an Asian girl, a Hispanic girl, an African boy, and a white (probably Ukrainian or Russian) boy. I don't care which countries they're from. I absolutely adore each of those ethnicities and/or the interesting cultures they have. But it turns out most Asian countries have the 30+ age restriction, as does Russia. As for Hispanic kids, the only countries that really have adoption programs are Guatemala, Mexico, and Colombia. One of them - I think Mexico - has the 30+ age restriction, Guatemala has stopped taking new applications, and Colombia has a backlog of like 3 years for a baby. Apparently the easiest/fastest country to adopt from now is Ethiopia. I definitely wouldn't mind an Ethiopian kid, but I just didn't foresee that being our first one. So there's nothing really wrong with it except that it's not according to my plan. LOL. But I really hope some of the other countries will loosen up in the next few years. Oh, and we want to start with a baby because we want to ease into being parents like everyone else gets to. After that though I think we will be fine adopting slightly older children.
