When I did that silly, short survey the other day and said I ought to write one of my own, a few of you said I should. So, caving to peer pressure, I did. For those reading this on Facebook or who aren't on my LJ friends' list, I assure you that despite your being able to see my posts as two surveys in a row, there were other things between. You're just not allowed to see them. Hmm. I'm not sure if that will actually make you feel better... ;o)
1. What are your first and middle names? Bethany Lynn
2. When you were a kid, did you wish you were named something else? If so, what? Oh, I had many I wished for. Tiffany, Jessica, Jasmine, and Jade were some. And I've been happy that my name is not any of those for well over a decade now. Hehe.
3. What is your favorite national pizza chain? Pizza Hut
4. How many pairs of shoes do you own? I really have no idea. More than I used to, that's for sure. I do have 20 or so pairs of flip-flops, but that includes my dressy ones.
5. What is one TV show you’ve seen at least one episode of, but you can’t stand? Big Brother
6. What’s your favorite cereal? Quaker Oatmeal Squares, Multi-Grain Cheerios, or Cookie Crisp.
7. Would you rather have temperatures above 100º or below 30º? Above 100, especially if I can go to the beach!
8. What is the best concert you’ve ever been to? Hanson's "Walk" Tour. Followed closely by dc Talk's "Jesus Freak" tour, which I got to see twice, and both times for free thanks to winning tickets from the same radio station 3 months apart!
9. Do you have a college degree? If so, what? A.A. in graphic design
10. What state is home to you? Even though WI, IL, MI and CT are like home too, FL is definitely my real home. I love it here so much!
11. What is your favorite physical feature (of yours)? Probably my height/build (I may not like going to the gym, but it likes me!) or my hair.
12. Do you believe God created the universe? Absolutely.
13. What is your very favorite outfit in your closet? That is a really hard question, 'cause I have so many clothes I like! Hmm. I will say my dark bootcut jeans and either my mauve hard-to-describe shirt or my black really soft and cute tank top.
14. Have you ever bought anything on Ebay? If so, what? So many things. Mostly clothes, but also my cell phone, some cell and computer accessories, and CDs.
15. What was your favorite book series when you were a kid? Boxcar Children, Chronicles of Narnia, and Baby-Sitters Club
16. Can you speak any languages other than English? If so, which ones? I'm sort of learning Spanish and I still remember a lot of American Sign Language from when I took it in high school.
17. Do you like sweet tea? All tea is evil, no matter how sugary it is.
18. What’s your favorite vegetable? Tomatoes! But if they don't count then probably broccoli or potatoes.
19. What age seems old to you right now? Mmm... 45. Or 65.
20. What is your biggest pet peeve? I have a few, but the one that makes me want to scream every time is when people say/write redundancies such as "ATM Machine", "PIN Number", "GPS System", "The TPC" etc. If you say that, you basically just said Automated Teller Machine Machine, Personal Identification Number Number, Global Positioning System System, and The The Players' Championship. The very worst is when people say "CNN News Network". *headdesk*
21. If someone gave you $1,000 and told you that you had to spend it all within 24 hours, what would you buy? Termite treatment. Hehe. Yeah, I know, that's a really boring answer. (And a depressing one, because that's not even enough to cover it!) I would probably either go on an awesome shopping spree, or book a vacation. Or buy gift cards so I can spend it all later. Hehe.
22. What was your first car? 1998 Toyota Corolla. May it rest in peace.
23. When did you last climb a tree? Last year some time. I climbed the alien hatching pod tree because I felt like it. There aren't many good climbing trees near my house.
24. What is the last movie you saw in a movie theater? Get Smart
25. Have you ever been on TV? If so, why? I have now! I was in the movie Recount on HBO for about 5 seconds. =oD
26. What is your favorite website to visit when you’re bored? http://stufffchristianslike.blogspot.com/ Of course, that only lasts till I've read all the new entries. After that I usually shop on Ebay or something.
27. Do you usually cheer for the underdog? (If so, you should be a Detroit Lions fan. ;o) ) Sometimes. Usually I will like one team above the other, though, so of course I cheer for them. If it were two teams I didn't care about... well, I wouldn't care. I would figure the team expected to win deserves it because they've clearly played well all year if everyone thinks they'll win, but then I'd also think it would be cool if some no-names who everyone's bet against won it all and most people stupid enough to gamble would lose their money and hopefully learn a lesson. LOL.
28. What book(s) are you currently reading? The Ragamuffin Gospel. I just started it though.
29. How many versions of Pride & Prejudice have you seen? 3 - the 1985, 1995 & 2005 versions. I like the last two equally a lot and didn't like the other at all.
30. What’s your favorite thing to cook? Lasagna, because it always turns out so well!
31. Have you ever regularly watched any Star Trek? Yep! All but the original (it aired before I was born, but I've seen most episodes in reruns and on VHS) and DS9. The Next Generation is my favorite though.
32. What color are the sheets on your bed right now? Black satin. I don't know why we waited so long to get satin sheets. They're so soft, and cool in the summer!
33. What is one food you refuse to eat? PEAS.
34. How do you take your coffee? Very unhealthily. Hehe. I prefer fancy, fatty things like White Chocolate Mochas or Caramel Macchiatos. In a regular-sized cup of normal coffee, I take 2 creamers (preferably french vanilla-flavored) and 3 sugars (not sweeteners).
35. Do you floss your teeth every day? Yep. Sometimes twice a day. Not that it does any good. *frowns*
36. Which countries have you been to? Australia, Bahamas, Canada, El Salvador, Mexico, Papua New Guinea, USA (obviously)
37. Are you good with directions? Yep. C.S. Lewis was WRONG about girls being generally bad at directions, thank you. (He said that multiple times in The Chronicles of Narnia. And yes, I just semi-dissed C.S. Lewis. *looks for lightning strikes*)
38. Which operating system is on your computer? Windows Vista. I thought I'd hate it, but I was wrong. I don't see what everyone is fussing about; it works fine for me and is quite aesthetically pleasing.
39. Do you get along well with your parents? Yes. Things were hit or miss with my dad when I was a teen, but after I went away to college for two years I understood him more. Neither of them are perfect (duh), but they are wonderful.
40. Is it “pop”, “soda”, “coke”, “fizzy”, or something else entirely? Pop! But I usually say soda at restaurants here though because if I don't I get a blank stare as they try to figure out what I'm asking for.
41. What’s your favorite unhealthy fast food chain, and your typical order there? Arby's (mozzarella sticks and an Arby's Melt!) or McDonald's (Big Mac, no onions, and their awesome french fries!)
42. How many presidential elections have you voted in? Just one. I was about 6 months too young to vote in the 2000 election.
43. Does the idea of wearing clothes someone else has worn gross you out? Absolutely. *serious face* *looks at completely thrifted outfit* *laughs* Okay, maybe it's not that disgusting... ;o)
44. What is one product you can’t live without? Lip gloss! Or chap stick. Basically anything to keep my lips moisturized. Also hand lotion - ditto with the moisturization.
45. Do you have cable/satellite TV? Someday maybe. (We have basic cable, which is essentially network channels that come in clearly + FX.)
46. How many kids do you want? We're thinking 4 or 5, but we'll see what happens.
47. On a date would you rather have a casual picnic on the beach or a fancy dinner at a romantic restaurant? Usually the beach (especially if it's secluded... *wink wink, nudge nudge*), but fancy dinners are fun too (especially if they're not secl... never mind. *wicked grin*).
48. What is your favorite Christmas tradition? Just spending the day with my family. We used to go to Michigan each year and hang out with one or both sides of the family in a nice hotel with a pool, billiards, ping-pong, racquetball, wallyball, and an amazing Christmas dinner buffet. After Christmas dinner we'd veg out on the lobby couches in front of the huge fireplace and talk and laugh and have tons of people come pet Mandy and tell us she was the best-behaved dog they'd ever seen. That was the best tradition, man. I miss it.
49. Have you ever met anyone in person that you first met online? Only, like, 20 people... Hehe.
50. How many hours of sleep do you get on an average night? I try to get 9½ because that's the only way I feel rested, but sometimes I do and sometimes I don't. My body is pretty wacked when it comes to sleep.
51. Who do you miss the most right now? My LJ friends, my WOLBI friends, and my family that are all far away (in-laws are of course included!).
52. What is the most expensive thing you’ve ever purchased (not counting education, cars and houses)? Hmm. Probably our bed, which was $400-something. Unless an air conditioner counts, in which case it was that, this time last year. Oh, how I miss thee, my $3,750. *sniffle*
53. What's your favorite board/card/party game? Taboo, Hand & Foot, and Mafia. Apples 2 Apples and Twister are great too.
54. Are you a vegetarian? If not, do you know anyone who is? NO WAY! But I do know one or two people who are.
55. Do you think a higher price usually means better quality? Maybe 50% of the time.
56. Would you rather have Oreos or Nutter Butters? I want 'em both!
57. What is your favorite perfume/cologne? Bella Belara by Mary Kay (I've had this for probably a year or so now and I still can't help from smelling my wrists several times a day when I wear it!) and Blue by Ralph Lauren. I don't have this one (it's so expensive), but I put it on every time I see it in a store. Someday I'll suck it up and buy some.
58. Would you ever get a tattoo? Gah. If there is ever a time that I am not traveling within a week or two after getting it, then yes. Dude, it's been over a month since my birthday and I still don't have mine. And we're leaving for El Salvador in a week and 9 hours, so I won't be getting it for at least 2 weeks now. Maybe when we get back. *sigh*
59. What is the lowest price you ever remember gas being per gallon? One time when I lived in Illinois and I was about 13, two gas stations in town had a gas war (remember those?) and it got down to 98¢ a gallon. When I got my first car, gas was $1.40 or so.
60. Have you ever been in a wedding (other than yours)? I was the flower girl in my aunt's wedding when I was 2 years old. Since then, nope. I often joke, "once a bride, never a bridesmaid." Hehe. Such is the curse of having no sisters to guilt into putting me in their wedding.
61. Do you ever drink alcohol? Yes, sometimes. I love margaritas and fuzzy navels and cheap, fruity wine. But I've never been drunk and don't plan on ever being drunk. That's a sin that's really easy to avoid!
62. What's the weirdest thing you've ever eaten? Dried 'n' fried caterpillar. They eat them like snacks in parts of Africa, so when a missionary offered one to me I tried it. It was crunchy and all around gross. I've also eaten kangaroo and crocodile.
63. What is your favorite CD ever? I shouldn't write questions that I can't answer. Hehe. I would say either Hanson's "The Walk" or dc Talk's "Jesus Freak". But that is subject to change... and it probably will when Hanson puts out another album. Heh.
64. When do you usually go to bed? Between 11 and 12:30. It's 12:02 right now, so thus ends the writing/answering of this survey!
Haha, Mr. Monk so would not like that I ended this survey with 64 questions. =o)
Edit to add: New survey questions from
pansyprincess!
65. Have you ever walked out of a restaurant after being seated without ordering anything? If so, why? I know I have, more than once, but I can't think of any specific instance.
66. What's the worst injury you've gotten from an animal? I got a bad bite from a half-blind dog when I was very young - about 4 years old, I think. But despite that I've never had a fear of dogs, and always had an intense love for them!
67. Are you the type of person who enjoys rain or gets depressed by it? Enjoys greatly, unless it goes on for more than 3 days, in which case I start to get subdued and antisocial.
68. Do you enjoy animated films? Nearly always, at least if they're by Disney and/or Pixar and/or whoever made Shrek. Hehe.
69. How do you prefer your steak cooked? Medium if I plan on reheating leftovers, and medium well if I plan on eating the whole thing at the time.
70. What's the last thing you bought? My mom forced me to go to another Goodwill yesterday (the woman is an enabler! An enabler, I say!) and I got a totally cute recently-in-stores blue paisley tee (Daisy Fuentes brand, from Kohl's), some cute denim bermudas, and some really nice jeans. =oD
