+ I caught the tail end of the "Idol Gives Back" show last night, and at the end they sang "Shout to the Lord"... without the word "Jesus" in it. They sang, "My shepherd, my savior" instead. Now, what exactly is the point to that? Why not just sing, "My perception, my unnamed deity"? I realize that not everyone of the Idol final 8 is a Christian (in fact, are any this year?) -- which, if you ask me, is reason not to sing a Christian song at all, instead of changing the lyrics. Dorks.

+ I've had frozen individual-sized pizza for lunch every day this week. Nothing else at home is quick and appealing. *sigh*

+ This blog is awesome, even when I don't agree with the author. My favorite is the entry on Chick-Fil-A.

+ I caught John McCain on The View this morning. I thought he did a good job, although his position on global warming makes me groan. At least, since he's not a spender, he probably won't waste our tax money on trying to fix something that's not a problem. He was quite funny, though, which I was not expecting. And I thought Joy Behar behaved herself quite well. I laughed out loud when Elisabeth asked about a McCain/Hasselbeck ticket. Hehe.

+ I'm wearing my hooker hoops today. Bwaha.

+ Simply Ballroom was really cool. (We attended Saturday night.) It started out pretty cheesy -- like something you'd see in Vegas -- but it got better quickly. There were some gorgeous costumes (and some ridiculous ones), and lots of fantastic dances. I swear all the boy dancers were cute, too, and all the dancers were from all over the world. There were some from the UK, Russia, New Zealand, Australia, Brasil, etc. Anthony Fedorov had a decent voice, but he is really just not cool enough to be on that show. Hehe. He's like a young Tom Bergeron, only dorkier and not as funny. Vonzell Solomon, though, was excellent. I think the Viennese Waltz and the Jive were my favorite dances there, although the Tango is beautiful too. (Always makes me think of True Lies, though.) Someday, we WILL take dance lessons. Anyway, it was a fun evening with some people we hadn't hung out with much before. We went out to eat afterward at a good local restaurant, and had a great time talking and eating while listening to live jazz music.

+ AJ turned 5 on Tuesday. CRAZY.

+ I loooove having new TV shows back! There was a new NCIS Tuesday, new Criminal Minds yesterday, and tonight is a new episode of The Office! All that's missing are The Unit and Supernatural. (The latter of which has new episodes starting in a few weeks, I believe.) Oh -- and Journeyman. But one of the stars of the sadly dead JM was on the new NCIS, so I suppose it really is over. *sigh* Anyway, rumor has it that one star of NCIS will be leaving this season. Honestly, as long as it's not Tony or Abby, I don't really care who it is.

+ Well, I've figured out how to end the cycle of frozen pizza for lunch: I'm going to get some Subway and bring it to Isaac's office. I hardly got to see him yesterday, and that sucks. So, off I go!

I lurve The Office!! Can't wait for today's episode--it's supposed to be a cast favorite. =)

I still need to add you. Hehe. I'll do that soon.

It's such an awesome show! I'm praying they don't break up Jim & Pam just for drama. They're so great together!

I know that Brooke from AI is a strong, strong Christian. I didn't catch them doing Shout to the Lord.. thats just seems weird. yay for THE OFFICE!

Are you sure? Everything I've heard says she's a strong Mormon (http://news.ldsblogs.com/2008/02/26/american_idol_finalist_brooke_white_on_h). So is my other favorite, David Archuleta. Hmm.

Yeah, they officially ended the show with the top 8 and a huge choir singing "Shout to the Lord". And then after the credits, they had a clip of Ben Stiller coming in to the empty auditorium asking where the BEEP everyone is. BEEP Ryan Seacrest, this isn't BEEP funny! (Yes, they used the beeps, since it was network TV.) It was funny that they had him on there, but just terribly badly placed since they had just sang a powerful worship song to an unnamed deity. Heh.

yeah you're right.. I forgot that she is a mormon. boo. oh well. well the whole label of Christianity doesn't always mean that anyone of the contestants is really that strong of a christian. I mean Chris Daughtry has said he's a Christian and from what I've heard he's real jerk/womanizer. so anywhoo. ;)

Date: 2008-04-11 07:58 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] kimana83.livejournal.com
That's very true. I hadn't heard any bad things about Daughtry, though. I had heard that he was already rather disenchanted with life on the road, though, because he misses his family so much. I read that in TV Guide, I think. He seemed kind of grouchy in that article, but I assumed it was because of the reasons he stated. Where did you hear he cheated on his wife? That shocks me.

My icon describes how I have felt without The Office during these long months!

I always crave Chik-Fil-A on Sundays. The one day a week I can't have it.

From: [identity profile] kimana83.livejournal.com
Well, now it's back! And I really want to see Leatherheads in the theater, and see how John Krasinski holds his own against George Clooney and Renee Zellweger (ha, I know I butchered that name).

Same here! Used to be that was the only day I would crave it, but now I've gotten so I crave it just mostly on Sundays. This is progress. ;o)

Oh, also, why sing that song if you're going to change the lyrics? It sounds stupid, and it's just an odd thing to do! I don't like that song anyway so even if they had kept the lyrics I still would have thought it was a silly choice :P.

Date: 2008-04-10 09:10 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] kimana83.livejournal.com
Exactly! Isaac and I were talking about how dumb an idea it was, because you're angering the Christians by taking out Jesus, the One it was written about, and you're angering the non-Christians because it's a Christian song, and Christian stuff is "intolerant" even without the name of Jesus in it. Just a really bad idea.

Yeah, I'm not keen on McCain's support for the global warming theory. =P But like you said, he's not likely to want to do something about it on a federal level, so if it just leads to him encouraging us to go green, I don't forsee a problem.

Was NCIS good? I totally missed it! I was thinking it started next week. I'll have to get it from iTunes. I missed Criminal Minds last week too, but I caught this week's. And they'd better not take anyone off of NCIS. :|

He did say that he would've signed the Kyoto agreement if India and China had, though, which is just silly. I mean, none of the countries who signed it have been able to keep to it, so what good is it? Bush was so right not to sign it. But, yes, McCain is so good about not spending that hopefully he won't make us pay for the liberals' propaganda project.

I actually haven't watched it yet! We were gone and totally forgot about it. I'm going to watch it online (http://www.cbs.com/primetime/ncis/video/video.php?cid=446409482&pid=qITchKGWoKEjg2FhKlDkBYZk2MZysGOx&play=true&cc=0) one of these nights. Criminal Minds wasn't new last week, was it? I think it started being new this week. And someone is definitely leaving NCIS, but no one has released who it is yet. There's lots of talk of Jenny (Dir. Shepard), but I think in most cases, that's wishful thinking, and not really based on fact. Mark Harmon has apparently threatened to leave pretty much every year, so it may well be him. I used to be scared of that happening and killing the show, but since Criminal Minds did so well replacing Mandy Patinkin, I have hope. (Ah, now I have a Hanson song (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dcifAzv8-bU) in my head. Whatever will I do? ;o) ) Plus, when Gibbs took a few episodes off and Tony led the team, that was surprisingly great. So, we'll see. I'm just praying it's not DiNozzo or Abby! I'm already totally sad that this coming L&O is Jesse Martin's last episode. I *love* him, and I love Green & Lupo together. They're the best detective pairing since Briscoe & Green! *sigh*

Date: 2008-04-11 06:35 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] pansyprincess.livejournal.com
Yeah, that's dumb. =P Oh well, at least the things I don't like McCain on are pretty much harmless. lol

Criminal Minds came back on the 2nd. It's such a bummer that the show isn't online anywhere. :( I really wish Jenny would leave NCIS but based on the things I've been reading, that's definitely not going to happen, at least not in this season. =P I could still keep watching if Gibbs left--like you said, Tony did a great job being in charge--but the show couldn't be quite the same.

I was sad about Green leaving L&O too. Although it's not like it will make much difference to me considering I never get to watch any of the L&O shows anymore. =P I've only seen one episode from the new season of the parent show.

Speaking of shows, it's going to be fun getting to watch a couple with you while you're here! :D The only one Andrew watches with me is The Office, so I have to watch all my shows by myself. *pout*

Man! I'm annoyed that we missed CM last week!

Jenny is the one they are setting up to leave, which is why I don't believe it, based on the bait-and-switch when Kate left. I sure hope it's either her or Palmer, because everyone else is awesome!

That's sad! Y'all should go buy a VCR. They're crazy cheap these days since everyone has a DVR (except us...). Or just bug Charity. I'm sure she has 'em and could burn you a DVD. =o)

That boy is silly, liking anime, and not crime shows. *shakes head*

Date: 2008-04-11 09:51 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] pansyprincess.livejournal.com
Yeah, I really don't think it's going to be Jenny, unfortunately.

I've looked at them before, and you can't buy a VCR without getting a DVD/VCR combo, and our DVD player is almost brand new (our old one stopped working right after we moved here). So we're just going to get DVR from Comcast soon. It's a lot better because you can record any amount of shows, even if they're on at the same time, and you don't have to bother with tapes.

I know. It's sad!

I haven't been watching AI this season, but I'm with ya... if you aren't going to do the actual song, pick another one, don't butcher it!

Enjoy Subway!

I know! They could've picked some ambiguous song, like John Lennon's "Let It Be", or why not just sing his "Imagine", if you're going to be pluralistic anyway. *rolls eyes*

I did! We have a great Subway near us. They put out lots of great coupons!

My perception, my unnamed deity

I'm glad I wasn't drinking anything when I read this. :D Classic Bethany. LOL!!!

So what is the deal with this Simply Ballroom? Is it a dance show for former Idol contestants? :) I haven't heard of it before. I remember Vonzell, though. She was good!

Date: 2008-04-11 08:28 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] kimana83.livejournal.com
Hehehe. Glad you got a laugh out of it. =oD

No, it's a dance show for whoever. It's hosted by Debbie Reynolds and two former AI finalists. Well, technically it's hosted by Debbie Reynolds, and the other two are featured vocalists, but they did as much hosting as Debbie Reynolds did. Anyway, Anthony and Vonzell sang while the professional dancers (there were, I think, 8-10 couples) did different routines. Like Dancing with the Stars, they told us a bit about each dance's history before the pros would demonstrate. It was pretty cool.

I dunno. I thought it was really cool that they sang that song. Yeah they changed the words...but still! I thought it was neat. :-D

Yay for TV shows being back!! I'm so, so happy. Yay for The Office! I am thrilled! I'm totally addicted to that show. I missed NCIS Tuesday night though... American Idol was on.

Well, obviously it's better that they sing that than a song glorifying sex or drugs or something, but it was pretty dumb. They should've picked a song that is purposely vague, like, say, one by U2 or Switchfoot. That wouldn't have bothered me as much. It just seemed weird to have practicing Mormons and people of other religions singing a song that is supposed to be to the One True Savior. Ya know?

Well, you can watch NCIS online at CBS.com, so it's all good! =o)

I must say, the Office was a little disappointing tonight. Perhaps it was because I'm not really caught up; I've watched the first season and then just a bunch of episodes out of order when they were on TV at random times. But I just thought that Jan and Michael were a little over the top (I mean, I know that's the point, but...) I think I just like it best when everyone's there.

I think global warming is a crock. But if he has to satisfy the greenies to get the vote, I guess that's all right. I'm far more concerned about how wasteful Americans have become. We're eating up the free range with huge homes that cost a fortune to heat and take up too much of the property. It makes me sad to see all the development in rural areas.

I think that the earth is warming, but that it's not going to be catastrophic, and it's not anyone's fault. The earth has had periods of heating and cooling since its creation. Even in just the short time that records of such things have been kept, the temperature has fluctuated. In the '70s, people were freaking out about global cooling, because the temperature was going down. Now it's gone back up, and people are freaking out about global warming. Obviously, if we can do something to help the environment, we should, but to say that we have caused global warming is just silly. And also, I do not remember reading a prophecy in the Bible of the earth being destroyed by melting ice caps. So, I'm not worried.

I bookmarked that sight. I'll have to check it out.

I think McCain will be great if he can get a more conservative running mate on the ticket. Then all the McCain nay-sayers will have nothing to nay-say about.

I know! Desperate Housewives comes back tomorrow night! Oh, and how dorky am I? I've just started watching Quantum Leap again--we found it the other night, and I still love that show.

Mmmm, Subway. Must get some.

I have to agree with you on the American Idol thing. Although I don't watch the show, I'm tired of secular entities censoring the name of Jesus out of tv, movies, hymns, prayers, the Pledge of Allegiance, etc. It seems that they can't mention God without giving Him a 4-letter last name, and they can't mention Jesus Christ without giving Him an obscene middle name.

Thanks to your recommendation, I now know the joys of the Stufff Christians Like site, so I'm glad I found yours!
