(no subject)

+ It's bad when a place is so cold that when you get in your hot, sun-baked car, you just sit there and soak up the heat for a few minutes.

+ I did some checking, and every airport I'll be going through on my trip, except JAX, charges at least $6.95 for wi-fi access. Hmph. I won't be sitting in any of them long, except for 2 hours in Dallas on the way back, but it would've been nice to have free internet access. I think O'Hare should offer free wi-fi and give everyone a free donut or something, to compensate for having to go through O'Hare! =oÞ

+ My house feels lonely when Mandy's not there. =o(

+ I meant to go to bed at midnight last night, but the Oprah show that came on then was really interesting. It got me thinking about what I would do if I couldn't use the computer or watch TV. (On the show, the people also had to turn off their cell phones for a week, but I so rarely use my phone that it's not a time waster for me at all.) All I could think of was reading more and going to the gym more. Going to the gym bores me, so that wouldn't happen. Reading is fun, but it's such a hassle to go to the library and read the back of book after book to actually find one that interests me. We wouldn't play games together, because Isaac's got all the luck in the few fun two-player ones, and I got tired of losing to him when we used to play regularly. Hehe. Plus, all my photo editing and scrapbooking stuff is on my computer. Maybe for me the rule would have to be no internet instead of no computer? Anyway, I'm curious: what would YOU fill your time with if you cut yourself off from modern forms of entertainment?

+ While I'm in WA, the high there is predicted to be around 50° each day, and the low will be around 30°. *shivers* Well, at least it's supposed to be sunny after Sunday, and I'll get a lot of use out of my spiffy blue trench coat. Tomorrow night they're predicting snow. I hope it comes! I haven't seen snow in April since my year at WOLBI New York. (It actually snowed in May there. I would've cried if it had snowed on my birthday.)

+ Isaac's boss took the whole office (6 people) to a nearby mini-golf place during work hours today as a post-tax season celebration. Yeah. Coolest boss EVER.

+ Well, I need to finish up so I can go home and start packing. Next time I update, it'll probably be from Washington! =oD

I would not have to fill my time, since I would be in a mental institution. =D

If I HAD to go without computer/internet/television etc., I would probably end up reading, writing, or drawing. =P

LOL! Same here, on all accounts.

I often muse about what I would do if I had no computer or TV. I think this is because while being one really useful and enjoyable part of my life, I think it is so easy to waste time and I really am saddened to see people among my friends and family who spend so much time glued to a screen that they really seem to be... playing their life away. I just am so grateful that my family has never had (and will never have) a TV - only about 6 years ago did Dad purchase a TV screen for the first time, and we only watch movies and I really see it as a blessing!

Anyway, so I guess what I'm trying to say is that I feel like time spent in front of a screen is time spent easily (and often, dare I say, idly?), and yeah it's not bad (movies are fun and good!) but I think they must be in moderation.

I'd read - hey, and I could give you like a million suggestions that would save you wasting time at the library ;-).
Talk to friends and family more (the real way - ie: face to face or phone).
Play music.
Write. Oh my, I'd write!
Hmmm, and sew or scrapbook.
Cook and do more work.

I reckon I'd think more too... I am just scared sometimes when I see what our society has become, and I have no doubt that lots of it is due to TV and info and entertainment being so accessible. We don't think or work like we used to.

Life gets so fast and busy... and I find that the only time creativity and thoughts that really matter start peeking through is when I've really not been filling my head with other stuff for some time and have had time just to think and muse, imagine and wonder.

Is there no coincidence here I wonder?

Gosh. Didn't realise it was such an essay! Sorry if it's random and weird, but you asked for it! :-)

I like essay comments. =oD

I love TV, and I think we will always have one, but we do spend a lot of time around it. I guess it would bother me more if I didn't enjoy it so much. Hehe. We don't own any video game systems, though, as they really don't interest us much.

I couldn't talk to friends and family more, though, because they're all so busy. I do talk to them though when they're not. I don't enjoy playing music. I used to play several instruments, but they all bored me. Alas. =o)

I don't think it's a coincidence - I definitely think it's related. =o/

Hmmm....very depressing question ;P I would most likely take a looooong roadtrip. Quilt tons...I find it relaxing...but never have as much time as I wish. Walk more. I have all these fun places to walk to...but I've been to busy. Argh! I would also make yummies and write letters to every single one of my awesome Great-Aunts-and-Uncles. Then die most likely.

:P

[identity profile] kimana83.livejournal.com 2008-04-26 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
Ha! You crack me up. A roadtrip would be fun, but it would be expensive. =o/ Quilting and baking could be fun too, but as I haven't done much of either, I don't know for sure. ;o)

[identity profile] daughterofziyon.livejournal.com 2008-04-26 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
It might not be too expensive if you boondocked the whole time :P :P Pack your own normal food....but then that would ruin the reason for going in the first place!!

I didn't find O'Hare that bad when I flew to Chicago. *shrugs* Maybe you'll have a better experience this time.

And hey, all I care about with Isaac is why he didn't come out and play basketball with us Friday night, since tax season is over. I mean, just because your leaving, like, tomorrow, isn't a legitimate excuse. ;)

[identity profile] kimana83.livejournal.com 2008-04-26 12:46 am (UTC)(link)
That's why: you flew to Chicago. It's only when you have it as your layover that it is truly evil. =oÞ

Ha! I wasn't his excuse. His excuse is that he really doesn't like basketball. Although I think I'd like it better if it were because of me. ;o)

[identity profile] bluiidmommy.livejournal.com 2008-04-20 02:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I've done that before!

I'm quite sure I'd become more creative with what me and girls did. We'd probably go outside more.

[identity profile] kimana83.livejournal.com 2008-04-26 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
We'd probably be outside more too, but I'm not sure if that would be beneficial since bugs love to eat me. Hehe.

[identity profile] potterswheel.livejournal.com 2008-04-20 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I am at the computer about 10 minutes tops each day.
I don't have a cell phone.
well, I practice music on the cello and piano. I go on walks alot and maybe cook more than most people. I don't think I would miss the computer at all except for your pictures and family happenings that you post!

[identity profile] kimana83.livejournal.com 2008-04-26 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
Most of my friends, and all my best friends, are accessible only online (since I'm not a huge fan of the phone and we share a small amount of anytime minutes with 3 other people), so I spend a lot of time on the computer. I think I would be very lonely without a computer. =o/

your posted reminded me of my coworker's husband. it's a stretch, I know. apparently their travel budget wasn't used as expected so they went to the Bahamas for a few days. Expenses paid. Not too shabby..eh?
